He is always tired, and hurt all the time. Patrick Schutz Neuchâtel have fibromyalgia – an invisible condition that is not recognized by disability insurance.
Pain, pain, nothing but pain: Patrick Schuts (41) Neuchatel always have the feeling of having the flu – no fever, but with a huge lead of fatigue. He would like to stay in bed all day and spend time there. “Every part of my body hurts, thankfully not all at the same time,” he told the magazine “L’illustré”.

Even though he plays with it only 20 minutes, it takes energy for the entire day. “When I slept, and then awake, I’m as tired as never slept.” He lost many friends who believe he pretends. At night, he can not go out with them as it used to go to bed at 19h to relax.
The diagnosis of his suffering a year ago revealed: Fibromyalgia. An estimated 400,000 people are affected in Switzerland. The problem: Fibromyalgia is not recognized by the disability insurance (IV). There is scientific evidence: there is no evidence found in the blood and x-rays. Hundreds of symptoms characterize fibromyalgia. It is determined by exclusion of other diseases and through a test: Typically sensitivities are used.
Eleven of the 18 or more (sensitive points) have increased pain, suspected fibromyalgia is present. These diagnostic points are located close to the approach of the tendon muscles. The cause of the disease is unclear and may be restricted only by medical measures.
Patrick protection must take many medications: analgesics, antidepressants, vitamins, medication to protect the stomach and drops against sensitive and dry eyes. “It’s an invisible suffering,” says Schutz. He wants as many people as possible to know about it, created a site on Facebook, so that fibromyalgia affects the consciousness of the population.
Patrick has been unemployed for two years and lives on social assistance. If the IV recognized at least partially suffering, he would have been helped. So he expects financial support because of his depression and chronic fatigue. His greatest hope is a popular initiative that has just been launched and requires recognition of fibromyalgia as a disease.

He would like to do something with his wife and daughter, but his suffering and the little money it receives not make this wish come true.
